Calendar of events 2008 : Here is our selection of events, festivals, shows and fairs not to be missed in Paris if you plan to visit the city of lights during summer or fall season. Things to do during summer & fall

There is always something going on in Paris ! Summer is usually quiet for business but it is a good time to visit museums and to wander on the banks of the Seine where parisians like to gather at nightfall - Also don't miss the 14th of July fireworks at Eiffel Tower. Fall offers a wide choice of fairs & shows.

July 2008

- July 27, Tour de France final stage in Paris. The spectacular arrival of the Tour de France on the Champs Elysees Avenue (The sprinters have to circle the Champs Elysees Avenue 11 times)
- July 14, Bastille Day, citywide. Celebration of the French revolution and the storming of the Bastille Jail in 1789 - Great Army Parade on the Champs Elysees Avenue in the morning & fireworks at Eiffel Tower.
- Mid July : Paris Quartier d'Ete festival (Paris summer festival) - Pop & classic concerts outdoor (Latin quarter, Sorbonne, Tuilerie Gardens...).
- Late July : Paris Plage - The entry to this beach named 'Paris Plage' is free. Every year since 2002 Paris becomes for 1 month a large sand beach with Palm Trees... free water-spray stations - some boules pitches, several drink kiosks run by the nearby permanent cafés, a guinguette for dancing and several other areas for musicians to perform concerts are set up
- Jazz festival at Parc Floral located in Vincennes - Free concerts on week-ends

- Till Mid August : Paris Plage
- All Summer : Tango and Salsa on the left bank of the Seine River - Small groups of people gather to dance on the bank facing the Garden of the Plantes (5th district)

September 2008

- Sep 4 to Sep 7 - Fashion Show, Paris Expo - Parc des Expositions, 15th district. One of the most famous fashion event in the world twice a year in Paris.
- Mid September - Paris Antiques Fair : A reputated gathering of antiques dealers and buyers.
- September - La Villette Jazz Festival : Jazz Concerts organized in the northern part of Paris.
- Sep 23 to Sep 26 : Premiere Vision Fabric Show - Twice a year, no fewer than 700 weavers from 28 countries present collections in synergy with fashion calendar and apparel industry demands.
- Mid Sep - Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Day), nationwide weekend festival - Historic buildings including the president’s residence are open to public.

- 4 oct to 19 oct - Paris Motor Show : biennial international motor show With over 1,400,000 visitors, 500 brands from 30 countries...
- Early October - Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Longchamp, 16th District. France most prestigious horse race.
- Second Week-end of October : Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival - Wine Fest. Montmartre Hill celebrates its status as the only wine-growing area of Paris (Parade, tasting, ...)
- First Saturday in October : Nuit Blanche in Paris - A cultural festival open to public organized citywide in Paris (Concept has been copied in cities throughout the world). Many attractions (Free Concert, Open air modern art, Historical monuments open late at night) and the metro is open all night for free.
- Mid October : Paris Chocolate Fair at Paris Expo center (Porte de Versailles)
- Late October : FIAC – Contemporary Art Fair at the Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles, 15th

- November 1st - Toussaint Bank Day
- November 20 - Beaujolais Nouveau celebration : Every year Beaujolais Nouveau comes on the third Thursday of the month in November - Most of bars and restaurants make a special event. Gathering of people in the streets (Marche du Faubourg Saint Honore, Latin Quarter, Montmartre ...)
- November 11 - Armistice Day. Celebrating end of World War I - Champs Elysees military parade
- End of the Month : Vignerons independants - Large wine fair (600 producers - free tasting - Cost of entrance : 6 euros) at the Paris Expo Exhibitions center.

December 2008

- December : Department stores - animated shop-windows (Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, Bon Marche)
- 5 to 14 Dec : Paris Boat Show, Paris Expo in the 15th. Europe largest boat show.
