Monet's Garden in Giverny

Giverny and Seine Valley Tour

On leaving Paris city, you will drive, by minibus, through Le Vexin which is one many of the charming parts of Paris' surroundings. Within the hour, you will reach the enchanting village of Giverny. Visit the property of Monet, restored thanks to the generosity of American donors, the house and gardens of the impressionist painter represent forty years of his life. Here, he painted his immense Water Lilies series, as well as the Hay-Stacks and Poplars series, the Wisterias, Japanese Bridges... Today, his house has been transformed into a museum, and the gardens have been replanted as Monet wanted them to be. Then onto La Roche Guyon to visit the Castle (and its dungeon). The Lords of La Roche Guyon are attested at the end of 11th century. The situation of their stronghold, at the border between the principality of the Duke of Normandy and the grounds of King de France, enabled them to exploit for a long time the competitions between these two powerful lords to guarantee their independence.

Lunch (drinks included) will be taken in Le Moulin de Fourges, restaurant located near the river Epte.
In the middle of the afternoon, visit the Castle of Chateau Gaillard. The King of England and Duke of Normandy, Richard Lion Heart, wanted to bar the road of Rouen to his French enemy, Philippe Auguste. For that purpose, it built on the river Seine with the height of 'Les Andelys' an enormous strengthened complex whose Castle Gaillard constituted the heart. You will later have free time to visit the medieval village of Les Andelys. Duration is 11 Hours for this tour price from 149 Eur Adult and 105 Eur Child.

Le Moulin de Fourges Restaurant

Be ready to fall in love with this place ! How could one resist the bucolic charm of this two-hundred-year old moulin (mill), whose mossy wheel turns peacefully, carried by the stream of the river Epte ? It looks like a dream of a mill, just as everybody invented it for himself one day in a corner of his imagination. The story of its construction may deliver the secret for this magic. It is told that the mill of Fourges was erected by the builders of the Hameau de la Reine (the Queen's Hamlet) near the Palace of Versailles, this replica of a village where Marie-Antoinette fancied herself a farmer, far from the Court constraints. It is well known by anglers, painters as well as gourmets coming from Paris or much further, like Hillary Clinton who dined here.
